Issue #8

The Dreaming Eye

Welcome to the latest installment of Dreaming Eye, the newsletter reaching out at absolutely random times of the year!

Summary (early TL;DR for your benefit)

Lets' begin with a recap, so you can decide whether to read the whole thing:

  1. Lasagnacon returns! Glasgow, August 2-3, free lasagne & games. We'll also be at Tabletop Scotland, September 5-6-7.
  2. We have new books at the shop! And USA folks, you can get your hands on our UK inventory now.
  3. The Pergamino Barocco kickstarter will go live this summer. We are working on it.
  4. Do you like pretty colours? Go watch Emitter, it's free.

Summer Conventions: Lasagnacon 8 - August 2-3, Glasgow, and Tabletop Scotland, September 5-6-7, Edinburgh.

August is coming, and this means conventions. And lasagne.

Lasagnacon started as an house-con back in 2015 when a bunch of Google+ folk could not make it to GenCon.

As a joke I said I'd bake lasagne and run games.

I did bake lasagne and ran games.

It was awesome.

The joke has now reached its 8th edition. The recipe stays the same:

  • I bake around 80 portions of lasagne (meaty, vegetarian, and vegan).
  • We organize, run, and play games; last year we had the usual mix of RPGs (Old School and not), boardgames, prototypes, and weird Braunstein-adjacent things.
  • Lasagnacon is free.

If you like lasagne and games just show up, grab a chair and a plate, and enjoy yourself. If you have questions send me an email or ask in the Lost Pages discord.

We will also be at Tabletop Scotland, Edinburgh, September 5-6-7. Tabletop Scotland was a local convention but it's grown a lot. There will be games and traders aplenty, and it's right next to the airport so it's easy to reach and airport hotels. In addition to running our stall I'll be holding a talk with the title "Making Magic Marvelous", which might include anecdotes about zombie dogs. Or not.

More Books shipped to More Places

Shopify had an update and shipping broke in weird ways. While I was trying to fix it, I rebuilt the entire site.

Also, we added a few chosen new books, a small selection of pretty things you might like. And the whole catalogue is available everywhere! if you are US-based you can get most books from our Kansas warehouse, but you also have the option to order from our UK inventory too.

New things in stock include:

  • Beyond Corny Gron: you remember the stories your witchy Polish granny told you about the old country? Beyond Corny Gron is an Old School Slavic folklore generative pointcrawl in an absolute unit of a hardcover. It can be played without a GM, and has a small system in the back too. Plenty of new and old woodcut illustrations, plus handy card handouts with tables.
  • Ave Nox: a king seals his entire court in the underworld to escape the apocalypse. The apocalypse never comes, but things go horribly wrong in this horrible dungeon by Charles Ferguson Avery of Book of Gaub fame. Expect disturbing stuff.
  • The Magus & The Oracle (book + cards): the award-winning solo game by Momatoes! You are a Magus at the end of your career, and you look back to your life. This edition comes with a beautiful boxed deck of cards, gorgeous illustration on the front and inspirational moods and bonds, names and adjectives in the back. Possibly the best RPG I bought this year, the cards are absolutely beautiful and are succeeding in making me write more.

On Kickstarter soon(?) - Pergamino Barocco

Delays, delays, and a few more delays. Hopefully we'll manage to finish this and get it live. I want to be ready for press before the kickstarter begins. The new (self-imposed) deadline is September 21st, Autumnal Equinox.

Will the high festival work its magic? Maybe! Here's the kickstarter page if you want to give us a follow.

Emitter: drizzling paint as an artform

All I can say is go watch a video of pretty drops of paint.

You have reached the
end of this issue.
Have the best
summer!
Ciao!
